Your right. I do not see any free items either. Maybe they are delayed? They may still come. Wait until tomorrow then check. If not, then they are not giving away free things with this sale. event.

The delay maybe something happened on steam's end, like a server update on their end, most likely a backend update that they did not tell us about. They tend to do alot of these that never get told to the customers. This would be like walmart telling us about updating their security system on their self checkout kiosks. They prefer to keep the info to themselves. This could of lead to the delay.

I dont see anything mentioning Free. the banners I saw only said "check out the points shop items". nothing about getting free items

If you need the points for the items that badly, do it like everyone else and create a thread to farm jesters.........................

Valve has had free points shop items along with these fests for a long while now, guess that has stopped.

Dawn. First it was the halloween event not being free. Now even a simple event like that it's not free anymore? Sad.

Those threads are usually toxic from the start. A joke thread may be ok. But most of what I've seen called "jester farming" has been toxicity from the OP of its thread. That shouldn't be encouraged.

Yes I think that there are no longer free point shop items from sales and fests anymore because last sale it wasn't free it costed Steam Points and this sale too so I think Valve has stopped doing it unfortunatly which is this upsets me but these items did seem to be too good to be free so I do kind of like this choice.

Honestly, I'm still holding out hope for this being a mistake.
I'm going to check the Points Shop for the Fest after Maintenance tomorrow.

I don't think there have been free points shop items at major sales.

But the small fests are different.

At the start of the fest there was a banner saying "claim your free point shop items" but after checking it the items weren't discounted (I spent 3000 points for the avatar in hurry).

Now I see they changed it in "check out new point shop items" so initially it was supposed they were free but lately they changed idea???

Over time, Steam has done free stuff and stopped doing it eventually. Large sales provided a lot more free cards in the old days; don't remember whether we got any at all in the most recent big sale. Somewhere along the lines they handed out these free "sticker" things, which has stopped too. Then they handed out profile junk for free, which might have stopped now.

Maybe they just figured out that whatever they do, it doesn't increase sales so they stopped it. Or maybe they still think it increases sales, and they are currently preparing a new system as we speak. Just wait and see.
