Can you get notified when someone overbids you on the Market?
I'm trying to figure out if there's any way for someone to be notified the moment they get overbid on a Steam Market item.

I've been watching a very niche foil card, and every single time I place a buy order, I get overbid within 1–2 minutes—doesn't matter if it's 03:00am or 15:00pm; it's always the same person, and their previous order disappears right before they outbid me again.

This happens every time, and it feels way too fast to be coincidence. Makes me wonder if someone's using a script or API to monitor buy orders in real time, or if there is actually a legitimate way to get overbid notifications that I'm just not aware of?

Any elucidation would be appreciated.

people 100% use scripts. I dont know of any that are public. And the people I know that do this are the kind of people that spend like hundreds of dollars to get badges that no one else has. so id bet they pay for custom bots/scripts

as another note. The main way you "level up" on steam for your account level is to
buy a TF2 key
Trade the key to a bot for sets like 1 key for 14 sets or whatever the rates are these days

Those bots are also doing that. auto buying all the cards for the sets as cheep as they can and then when they accumulate enough sets trade those for keys. the keys are then sold online for a profit
Thank you for your response; I'm aware of the multitude of card set bots plaguing the market ad nauseam, but this particular case is rather Infuriating, as I just want to collect the perfect foil badge for my profile, and cannot do without paying full price due to this exploit. :( Are any of these scripts even endorsed by Steam? I gather not...

lmao no. tbh from my understanding the whole bot / trading keys for sets / third part sites. all of it is not allowed under their TOS

you may have better luck asking around in trading card discords. or large communty discords. but with those I bet people will want more than they are really "worth"
Sigh. :/ Yeah, I've paid £100 for full sets a couple of times, but there's not a chance I'd pay £300 just for one card haha! :')

The worst iv seen is someone showing how they paid $1100 USD for a card set no one else had for a game that had been banned off of steam. so they could be the "only person with it"

and i think they used some program to scan like thousands of users to see if anyone had the cards they needed.

That's weird; how would it work with private inventories?

tmk it depends?
I think if you got the cards from a trade or from a drop / booster pack it cant know.

If you buy the card from the market the market history should show it? so that can most likely be tracked

but ya from my understanding there is no way to know if someone with a private inv has like 1000 of a rare item.

remember there are websites that track
Name history
Profile picture history
Who has the highest steam level and a leader board for it
Who has the most playtime and a leader board for it
people track CS2 gun / knife floats to find out how many of a type of pattern there are

The real question is whats NOT being tracked.
