Can you install the new desktop version of steamos on non steam machine pc ?
And if so what are the requirements

SteamOS for PC has no official release yet nor system requirements atm.

There are also issues with driver support for NVIDIA GPU's, at least for those who have managed to get it running on regular PC's. Steam Machine still uses AMD GPU's so I doubt this issue is priority for Valve. We'll have to wait and see butt one would assume the desktop version of SteamOS will be released around the time Steam Machine's are.
