Censorship on Steam getting gradually worse.
Steam won't let the developers of Red Pine Lake publish their game due to their cover art.

Why not use any of the other threads on the subject.

Can you also post something without a clickbait video, thank you.

Just keep ringing those Credit card companies and tell them how you feel..

This is a private platform. Steam are more than welcome to enforce their own rules. If you don't agree with them, feel free to delete your account(s) and stop using this service at any time.

Great piece of advice, I don't see how that fixes the censorship problem though.

It's a Youtube video with a literal clickbait title. Yes, clickbait and certainly not credible.

Sorry, I don't trust streamers, they get paid to create outrage.

Steam is privately owned and not a governmental public entity. Enforcing house rules is not censorship.

You're not required to use Steam to publish your PC game.

There is no censorship.

As I said, if you disagree with any policies then feel free to delete your account.

If it was a man wearing swim trunks in the image, would it also have been rejected?

It's Steam doing this, not payment processors.

If you look long enough, I'm sure you'll find plenty of other partners who are breaking our rules and guidelines. Focusing the topic of the image on a woman's behind is indeed sexual in nature, regardless of what she's wearing. Your graphical assets can be viewed by everyone on the platform, and should be appropriate for the store.

Cheers,

That's crazy. That image is maybe PG-13 at its worst and that is pushing it. What is the minimum age to create a Steam account? Yeah, exactly.

The "swimsuit" is really pretty tame. It's not like it's flossing her ass or something. Not even close to that. I just looked at my library and I got numerous titles non-adult titles that are worse than that

Yeah. Valve needs to reverse their thinking on this one. Or maybe this is some rogue employee who needs to have a conversation with management. My opinion of Valve has never been lower after seeing this. I usually side with them on stuff, but I think this totally unreasonable and out of line based on that image.

Valve really needs to have firm set-in-stone rules on what is allowed or not, and not ever deviate from that. This is a clear reminder that having a single store with a monopoly-like strangle hold on the PC market is a massive issue.

It is censorship, of course. Every legitimate game Valve’s ever blocked was censorship. There's nothing new about that, but it's been ramped up significantly.

It's also censorship because Valve isn't supposed to have intense curation since the end of greenlight and due to their overall permissive history. It's censorship and that's not in question.

There really isn't anything such as private anything anymore since you have to use infrastructure created by other companies.

Steam simply won't survive the AI bubble economic bubble, not because they aren't making money, but because they rely on companies that provide their infrastructure like AWS, Visa, etc. They might as well be owned by them and the government.

I heard. All over a woman's backside?
Seriously? Sexualizing women is a big part of what sells games. We all knew this was coming.

Why is it a problem now? Because of payment processors? I just got done playing Tomb Raider Legend. You should see the actual cover for that. We gonna start targeting games like that now?

Get it together Steam. You're pissing off your user base. You wanna fall from grace, financially? You do that. Won't make a difference if the payment processors gut you first.

It's about consumer trust, so get with it. Fire whoever got that game rejected. What a jerk.

This is Valve's vague censorship rules catching up with them. Eventually it's gonna cost them in the long run. That's what they want I guess.
