Bot Accounts saying you payed for something you don't even own on your account

There is this account today who tried saying i payed 600 and something on a Rust Jacket that first i don't know what rust is, and i even have screenshots of the chat and now a screen shot on who else this person has scammed. They even said that they reported me and that my account will be banned if steam finds something which they won't because again i don't own rust or know what it is. There account name is "OSTAN" and there picture is a IBuyPower with a red i will assume a tiger or something related on there profile and if that doesn't help much. There a level 30 with 17 badges. I already Reported the account so please help me out. Thank you!

just report block and move on its classic scam

Yep trust me i did and have all the screenshots on everything just in case steam asks or something

It seems the classics are making a comeback. I had the same thing from happen to me yesterday. The scammer said I had purchased a $600 item and they hadn't received the money. They wanted me to show them my purchase history.

The scam is if you show them your purchase history they can then claim ownership of your account. I have to wonder just how seriously Steam takes these offenses.

Your purchase history can't be used to claim ownership of the account.

Well i am still here so i already knew nothing was gonna happen. But i am glad that i am not alone on this.

Rust is a game sold here on Steam. It's a survival themed game. As far as the so-called scam, I've heard of it. It's happened to me twice over the time I've been on Steam. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it since it doesn't normally result in anything happening.
