It isn't censoring adult content for me on iOS. It's either your region or your settings.

I have spent a lot of time thinking about it, and I just can't figure it out! I don't know why Steam would be doing this! I don't have the setting for filtering set! And it's doing it anyway! But only on phone! I can't figure it out! I can't login! Can't download the update! Oh the humanity! It's on fire!

You can't login on the phone? That would explain it. Adult content is hidden if you're not logged in.

Whilst I can see it fine (to the degree that I explored which wasn't much) there are IMO 2 possibilities:
Plattform demands.
Regional demands.

Most likely it's the latter, but I've seen a few cases of the former for explicit content. Either way it probably isn't Valve's choice.

Some people have been complaining about this on the Steam Mobile forum. Looking at a few of their profiles, I think it likely is for the Oceania Region.

Oceania region here, no issues seeing adult content on the store.

Same country even. I have no clue what's going on then.

I'm in Canada and have been having this issue. It only started happening recently. Previously I could view everything fine, and I can still view everything fine if I login on a browser on the same device, but the steam app censors all nsfw media (the games still appear but the screenshots and trailers with nsfw content are censored).

I contacted support and after confirming my filters aren't set to censor nsfw content, they gave up and sent me to the steam mobile forum.

Maybe Steam is getting ahead of the curve: GOP Senator Introduces Bill to Make All Porn a Federal Crime.

I'm joking as this is not a law yet, but if passed, Steam would have to remove all adult content from the platform as it would be a federal crime to possess and distribute said content as a U.S. company.

Not even Oceania, it's happening in Asia as well. My account is from India

Yeah started like a few weeks ago for me in the US. The media used to play no prob on site pages but now almost no video and screen shots sometimes don't appear at all. It used to with fine.
