Also, question is "will Chrome web browser end support of WIndows 10 anytime soon"?
If not, answer to Steam question is no too. :)
Was that way with XP, Vista, 7 and 8. So no need to worry right now or in the near future.
And the only reason Win 7 went away is because the Chromium people stopped supporting it, and Steam's client uses Chromium.
It'll be a good few years yet before this happens for 10.
The era of free software updates for Windows 10 will stop on October 14, 2025.
And given Windows 11's hardware requirements, I expect that Windows 10 will take far longer before platforms begin to drop it.
When Windows 10's platform share drops to about 10%, then Valve will think about when to drop support. And when that happens, they'll inform people of this intent. The last time that happened, people were given 1 years notice in advance.
There is nothing to worry. Valve will continue to support Windows 10 until Chromium support for Windows 10 lasts. Even then it'll take Valve year or more to transition to non compatible version. Google won't stop support for Windows 10 until Windows 10 LTS program ends and will probably take them year to push out version that no longer support Windows 10. Exact time may depend on how fast the Windows 10 usage drops, especially on enterprise front as Google may want to continue support it's enterprise customers as long as possible.
Considering all this Valve is likely to continue Windows 10 support until 2030. However anyone planning to continue using Windows 10 past October 14, 2025 should seriously consider subscribing to Extended Security Updates as otherwise their system will become vulnerable from that point on. ESU gives Windows 10 additional 3 years of security updates.
