Report profile option not working for years now
Hello, i'm echoing a problem that has been persisting for me for years, on several different operating systems, devices and even different accounts.

I frequently get people adding me from huge steam groups. Usually they want you to vote for their CS team or whatever. Then they send you a link that is malicious in some way or another (i didnt check yet where it actually leads, but it usually is something like stemacommunity dot com, like a typo in the url which makes it very obvious. )

These Accounts sometimes seem to have been legit accounts, compromised by groups of scammers. Its especially evident with all of these Accounts adopting the nearly 1:1 same Profile biography, being probably written by an AI.

Anyway, to get to the main point.
Whenever i want to report such a profile, or any profile for that matter, i get an infinite loading screen. I never get the chance to actually report the profile in any way. This issue has been persisting for literal years by now, even with changing OS etc etc.
All the way back when this first happened to me, i just thought that it was a bug of the current Steam client version. So i accepted it and moved on. But this was around 2 years by now.

I wrote a ticket to steam support a long time ago, but i never got an answer.
All i could find on the internet were people with the exact same problem.. in 2019..
And idk i honestly dont feel like filing a ticket every single week. Thats why im sharing my frustration here in hopes that someone sees it who has experienced similar things.

The only solution that was given was to block the profiles. But this doesn't solve the problem, its just not making it *your* problem. Which i guess is what i am gonna do now. But still, i feel bad for not being able to report those obviously malicious actors, operating for so long by now.

(for reference, i should be able to report accounts because my account is fairly old, has both e-mail and phone verification, soo like i'm a real human yk. And i never ever filed a report ticket for a profile yet, so its not like i ever wrote too many or anything)

have you tried using the browser to report the profile?

I report scam profiles all the time from both the desktop client and mobile client. Works perfectly fine every time.

Yes. Additionally to that, as i said, with different accounts, different operating systems, over several YEARS by now.
Idk i just accepted the fact that the report profile option just deliberately doesnt work.
Bc i honestly don't even know what else could be the issue. I literally even moved places since i had this bug for the first time, meaning i have a different ISP.
All i want to say with this, that this "bug" happens to me in so many different scenarios that to me it honestly either feels like it deliberately doesnt work, or idk there are higher powers preventing me from ever reporting a profile.

Honestly there never was a time where i was even remotely satisfied with the steam client anyway. But i feel like this basic function should just work.

Do you have proof that it work? And if so, why is many user that break rule do not get punish after report and they remain active? Care to explain it?

Works perfectly fine and yes I get a notification when it has been handled.

In other word, you are not truthful and show no proof of it.

Don't accept random requests.
True, and important statement.
Yet sadly doesn't have much to do with my main point.

Except he literally just explained it.
Why did you completely ignore what he wrote? LOL wut.

Also, while I have no clue why the Report profile doesn't work for the OP, there is literally mountains of evidence it actually will work and has worked in the past for many users.

No screenshot proof, therefore did not happen.

Seems legit, as they say.

I've never had an issue reporting a profile breaking the rules either.

Oddly you should know it works, weren't you pretending to be another user before?

Edit:
Oh, yep checking post history, pretending to be Jamebonds1.

What do you mean by proof? When I see a profile that is advertising a scam website in the name and/or avatar, I go to the profile, click on the drop down, and click report. I then fill out the report and submit it. Never had an issue doing so.

And usually within hours to days, I can see the profile was actioned because the name and/or avatar was removed.

Yeah, it's weird he thinks you have to provide evidence of a screenshot when that makes like no sense ever.
