It's to make sure the game can run properly on your computer in most cases.
There are sites such as youtube and twitch to see if it's a game you may like.
They do not owe you a refund option at all. Be happy they have a 2h/2w option in case the game does not work. The refund option is NOT there for you to see if you like the game.
That is not what the refund system is for. again, it is ONLY if does not work on your device. Be glad they provide that.
In Australia (which I believe you are from here too), Consumer Law does not guarantee a refund for a change of mind. So the statement "the refund policy is not to be used for trialing games" is correct.
If the product is faulty, then yes, you are entitled to a refund, but there are certain requirements that have to be met in regards to the fault of the item.
What if you could rent games? Would that suit you? That way the dev would get something.
