Age verification uk outrage

Its been months now, how can this be allowed. Im 36 and have never had a credit card and I'm never going to get one. Its an infringement of human rights to withhold age related content unless you are willing to become indebted to credit card companies. Whats wrong with my id, passport, driving licence, photo verification, email verification, Google account verification!!! How has this still not been addressed!!!!!!

Steam sort this out like every other company!!!!

Iv reported this issue to steam robots repeatedly and other than taking legal advice too sue Steam I'm at a loss. Any help community?

As a citizen of your government, just use the leverage you have to change or abolish that silly rule.

I agree that it's completely stupid law and will only restrict the majority. However, I'm not raging about it, there are bigger things to worry about. Just use a credit card if you really must buy cartoon sex games.

You don't need to pay interest on a credit card balance if you clear it on the payment date by direct debit. Regular use and payment will actually improve your credit score.

I could state i am 65 but that does not make me 65.

Infringement of human rights? Take it up with the UK Government.

The Ofcom requirements are:

1) Age assurance methods – which include age verification, age estimation or a combination of both – must be ‘highly effective’ at correctly determining whether a particular user is a child.

2) They include: open banking, photo ID matching, facial age estimation, mobile network operator age checks, credit card checks, digital identity services and email-based age estimation;

Valve have chosen credit card as they have the payment processes in place and Ofcom only requires one method to be used.

As you must be 18+ to own a credit card in the UK it is a valid tool for verifying someone is of age, especially when also having to confirm a transaction from said credit card, in this case a quid is transferred and then returned once verification has been confirmed.

They are perfectly valid tools for age verification in any country that restricts them to people who are 18 or over. Such countries include the UK and Japan (and likely others, but I'm too lazy to look that up).

Which makes them terrible for Age verification.
