Remember when Autumn/Winter/Summer Sales were real SALES?
I remember when 50% off was the starting point for TONS of games during Steam Autumn/Winter/Summer sales. Many were even in the 70%-95% range.

Now 20% is represented as some type of gift.

Why bother?

What do you think?

I'm probably from a different universe than you because I remember a variety of different discounts and I saw a variety of different discounts in the sale.
I remember when we had no sales at all.
And then when we did get sales you had discounts ranging from 10% to 95%, which we still get today.

Well... Maybe those 50% and above titles would be easier to find if these damn overrated, modern releases with 20% and below wouldn't have this much search priority over else.

Digging through all of this is just too much of a chore. I near instantly lose interest in sales.

I don't jump up n down like a kid at Christmas either when sales come around, mainly because it's me putting my hand in my pocket these days and not mummy and daddy buying me the games, although that's been the case for the past 37 years or so.

What I do is I'll add games to my wish list, then when the sales start or at any other time throughout the year I will check my wish list and sort by Discount. That puts the highest discounted games (usually 95%) at the top of the list. I'll then take a butchers at what's on offer and decide whether to get something or not. Sometimes I buy many, other times one or two, so far this sale I've spent a quid, mainly because I just bought a new monitor and I'm starting to save again.

Perhaps its the games you are looking at pal!

I have had a fair few 90% even a 98% in this sale from my wishlist

Now they were all older, much older games, only some of which were AAA

There are bargains out there, but I think in the current economic climate, sales are less good right now, happened in 2008 as well when the credit crunch happened, there were bargains to be had, but less so for a spell, of course then we could also go to CEX and get the discs

If the discount isn't right for you, don't buy it, I have my own hard limits on some games on my wishlist I won't pay above, and will happily wait for them to come down, some will be a few years

Only just got FF7 Remake, when i came down to £17ish with the discount from my Humble Choice recently

Hmm...

That's one way to do it. By the look of things mine go from 85% to 40%. I went with 60% one, because it was some niche monster collecting one and probably will keep me more busy than other RPGs.

I found it easier that way, as it can take up a lot of time these days searching for games. This way I can add games which aren't out or just coming out, games friends add etc throughout the year and then check on the usual sales etc.

Now, my wish list is getting a big long and there's plenty I probably don't actually want anymore but I could clean that up if I wasn't such a lazy git. It doesn't really matter though, if I'm only looking at the discounted games any way.

Wait... No, I don't actually remember that. That's never happened.

Yep, even when we had 99% discounts, folks still complained.

I remember when they said "TF2 will never be on a sale this good ever again" and then immediately discounted it to the same price minus one cent.

Can't do that anymore because of (probably beneficial in most cases) laws, but it was funny when it happened.

I bet someone said why on 10% or more.

Hmm... Damn. And of course the only title I bothered to buy during this sale HAD TO BE
> Unity engine made < one... right in the middle of this small controversy.

Don't even know if it's patched or not, Anode Heart seems like a very niche entry.

Welp... Curse my decision-making... or lack of thereof.
