... down, and probably took our Steam data, can Steam recover out or buy the game out, it's an okay game. We had our Steam accounts connected to it!

Nothing that isn't publicly available to everyone is what the game devs have. What data do you think they have?

It's a good game, it is also just server based.

Wikipedia says that the game closed down 2010 in the US.
Doubt that at the time account linking with steam was possible at all.

then the wiki was not update since then.
But still, the game vanished from steam 2020 according to that news.

And as far as i can see the game is still running.....

Maybe read the other half of that sentence too...

I know I've played it ages ago; don't remember whether that was before or after that 2010 switch, though, and haven't followed it anyway (since I only played to a level that was still achievable without entering the areas with forced PvP).
