REDEEMING GIFTCARDS ON A DIFFERENT REGION?

I try to look it up and all I get are people linking what steam says, does anyone have experience with redeem a EURO gift card on an account that has MENA store region? (uses dollars)
It used to convert euro to dollars a couple years ago and is that still the case?
I've got a family member in europe who buys me steam gift cards and I'm planning to change my store region to MENA since i've been living here for years now (my current store is the Netherlands)

Can't be done anymore. Gift cards can only be redeemed in their region.

Is that just from reading it or through experience?
i saw this guy posting his purchase history of him redeem different region giftcards https://ibb.co/6JFWzDzs but no clue if he's MENA
so I don't know how accurate is steam's info

Its technically not the region but the currency. You can redeem any gift card that has the same currency on it that your store region uses.
So US gift cards can be redeemed in a bunch of countries where the Steam store uses US Dollars.

USD gift cards can be used inside the following regions:
* United States of America
* Any region that defaults to the following subregions:
USD_CIS, USD_LATAM, USD_MENA, USD_SASIA
* Any region not supported by Valve that therefore defaults to USA prices and uses the U.S. Dollar instead and is not part of any of the USD subregions.

How will retail Wallet Codes be affected by this change? For example, will it be possible to redeem USD wallet codes?

MENA - USD and LATAM - USD countries/regions will be able to redeem USD wallet codes after November 20, 2023. In addition, Turkish lira and Argentine Pesos Steam wallet codes will automatically convert to USD based on the daily exchange rate when redeemed on Steam after November 20th.
