What's the point of following a game ?
My assumption had always been that following a game would make the game's news appear at the top of my library page, so that I could keep tab on what's going on with it, but I guess that's not the case? It's just a wishlist but with even less purpose ?

Is there a way to actually do what I mentioned above or I am meant to manually check the latest updates of the 100+ games I have in my follow page ?

following a game will add posts from the dev to your activity feed, i dont mean forum posts but the ones they make for the feed.

If you want a notification every time a game posts news, subscribe to notifications for new topics in its events & announcements forum.

Following adds the news to your activity feed as said above, but also allows certain types of news posts that aren't game updates to appear in your What's New area.

I started following games a few months ago when I thought that it would show me updates about them in the "What's new" area in my library.

I've yet to see any news from the 10-20 games I'm following. Does this work as intended? Do I misunderstand its function? Anyone knows?

I use following as a second wishlist for games that won't be playble on my potato, early access games, games without a release date, games that can't +1 yet, etc. If any of them gets a powerfull discount i might buy it

“A group I belong to: Posts an announcement”
in your Friend Activity Settings

When you follow a game on Steam, when that games gets a news announcement or update announcement it will show in you're Steam activity feed. And following a game also lets you join that game's group chat.

Keep up to date on updates. Good for a game you may have on a back burner while you wait for more updates. Useful for early access games.
