For VAC ban it will apply to the one who own the copy of the game, so for example your brother cheats and get VAC banned while sharing the game from your library, you would also get VAC banned too as you are the game owner.

As for game bans im not sure....but i would imagine it would be the same result as a VAC ban

it would make sense, except game bans are via the developer, not steam so i assume it would be different

most likely not, they clearly state only share with family you can trust, all vac and game bans apply to the account causing the ban and then applied to the owner of the game.

The ban is applied to ALL members of the share at the time the ban goes live.
This is to prevent users from setting up a family share with a bunch of alt accounts and the swapping to another account in the shae to continue cheating.

cheers for that extra bit of clarification, didn't know it was all accounts. I don't even share my account with my kids as they like to mod and I am not getting banned for anyone, not even my kids lol.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
