And yet games I buy show up as the most recent, regardless if I install them or not. Nice try.

Initiate the download and cancel out of it. Then it will show up.

I never use the Add to Library option on the store page. I always use the Download button and cancel out of it instead.

Not sure about game count, but they definitely show up when I search my profile's games. And regardless if they don't count toward game total, what does that have to do with activity? If I launch the game, it will become the most recent "activity" in my library... so what's your point exactly? This is inconsistent behavior in the library.

Right, that is a work-around, which actually used to be the only way at all to get free games to show up in your library, the button to add them to your library is relatively new. But a work-around is not a solution to the problem.

you can easily check this by making a new account, adding a bunch of f2p games, and seeing that it still shows you have zero games on the main profile page

Why? Why should I not be able to see that I just recently added a game to my library? Regardless of its purchase price.

the purchase price doesn't matter, even a $0.01 game would count, just not free

Huh... yeah? That's the way they programmed it? Hmm... is that why it behaves in an inconsistent way? Duh. And that's my point, that the way it is programmed is inconsistent. That's literally the point of the thread.
