A spelling checker is enabled in Steam! WTF?
In my Windows 10 is the spelling checker off, both options. And now when I write this here, I get red underlines, wtf? How to disable this spelling checker? Is this new in Steam or w t f?

I use the german Steam client. Could someone change to German language and test if you get the same when you write in english?

This makes me mad. When I write in german, than is all fine, but when I write in english, than every word get red lines, because I use the german Steam client. This is §$&%&§$ me off.
You really force me to use the english Steam client to write in english? Or is there any option to disable this?

Seeing the same and came here to complain. I'm using the client in English, Windows is German and typing English underlines almost everything, German doesn't. Don't know what's going on.

Heilige Scheiße ist das nervig.

I don't even know what the hell kind of dictionary they're using, since it underlines some words that are perfectly fine.

Like "Colour".... So it seems to be English (Simplified).

Obviously they are using only American English.

color - American English
colour - English English

I don't see red lines. It's probably something with your PC.

Way to miss the point. Whatever 'flavour' of English they're using, for people that actually chat in more than 1 language, it's annoying as all hell.

To have this suddenly be activated for no reason, without an option to turn it off, is just utterly stupid.

ps. If you were being tongue-in-cheek, well done, but this sort of stuff just pisses me off. The whole new chat thing is just one stupid thing after another. (Lost histories, 'new messages' actually not showing those messages, chat windows going fullscreen for no reason, the chat window getting completely lost (being off screen), and this is just one more ♥♥♥♥♥♥)

Using the forums on the Steam client is tedious and slower than using your actual browser. I recommend using your browser for the Steam forums. This way, it will also default to your browser settings, where you can easily disable spellchecker.

I'm not even talking about the forums. I'm talking about chat. In either case the fact it got enabled without asking, and there's no way to turn it off, isn't solved by 'using a browser'..

If it was only the forums, I could potentially even live with it. But since it's also in chat, it's driving me (and many others I chat with) mental.

Oh my god this is so retarded. if you speak in multiple languages then you're almost guaranteed that all except 1 of them will get every single word underlined.
fun fact: according to steam, the word "steam" does not exist in czech language so it underlines itself

Probably cause your OS is set to English
For us who have OS in different language it flags everything else as incorrect

and i aint going to change OS language everytime i speak to different buddy.
Not that it matters it flags even links and slang terms. This "feature" has to go.

Multi language is a thing you know..
Thing that valve forgot about apparently...
