Strange/stupid balance choices
Sorry, but I cannot find any better word than "stupid" for the following
1. Huge HP penalty for Axel on alternative moves. If you're not doing perfect recovery, you're basically playing it old-school
2. Legacy level with pendulum. Not only 95% of level vision is obstructed with "fog" and pendulum itself, but you also do not fight in this level. All you need to do is stay near the wall, do your best pushback move and just avoid the swing. Boring, annoying, frustrating.
3. Volcano levels with meteors and battle arena levels with half-platform firestreams. Same story. You don't have to (and better not to) fight, you just need to run around, avoid fire and try to overlive your opponents. Boring, annoying, frustrating.
4. Maximilian boss... Really, whole game you're tought to bait, float and get max combos, but wit Max you have to just run around, react on his moves and cheap away with 2-3 hits some health from him. At least give him some break threshold, after which he will be vulnurable to floating and knockdown.
5. Maximilian playable... yeah, absolutelly oposite. Slow, largest hitbox but just average jab, low grab distance - AND HE CAN BE KNOCKED DOWN BY ANYONE!!! Really, while character design and overall gameplan is great, such balancing raises big questions.

But, of course, developers will not fix those issues, but instead will nerf strong characters... in PvE game, uhu.
Sorry, maybe it's not constructive, but really, devs have to move a bit forward and stop making arcade coin-milker.

4. Agree. It is a very boring bossfight for those reasons.

5. Main weakness with Max I find to be a lack of a forward front throw that is invincible and knocks down others. Like Axel headbutt, or Blaze neutral throw. That and short range jab.
His standard Blitz, forward special, and neutral special are fantastic.

Cannot agree on that, mate. At least in survival I tend to always get just a small nudge right after any special of his except air one, and hp cost is.... well, i don't like it.
BTW, it's also very stupid that his air special changes direction near the wall. Basically, you cannot oki your opponent near the wall with it at all.

Yeah, the air special changing directions is super-annoying. I use it mainly for getting close to long range enemies, such as Gold/Bronze/Silver guys. My considerations are only for solo story/arcade play on mania. Not sure about how useful stuff would be on survival. Mostly I just upgrade his blitz and spam it nonstop on survival.

TBH, I didn't know there was any difference to health costs with different specials in the game. Guess I better go study some more!
