no clue how to fix that.....you could buy it from steam for 10 dollars or so and wouldn't need the disk at all. Good luck

I know this thread is very, very old, but there're people out somewhere that need help with this.

The error is related with a Windows font named MS Gothic, and on systems like 8/8.1 and 10 you can't delete nor rename it without giving yourself administrator's priviledges. The easiest way to get it done is download a Linux OS and make a bootable drive with it. I used Slacko 5.7 and Rufus as my boot drive creation tool.

Later all you need to do is follow some simple instructions, restart your PC with drive plugged in, start your Linux and delete/rename a file in C:\Windows\Fonts named msgothic.ttc.

Boot up your Windows again and enjoy Kohan 2.

You should, because Kohan 2 is one of the greatest RTS games I've ever played. I have myself a box version and I had hell of a problem to figure out the reason behind this @%$&! error

ik this is super old but ive been trying to get Kohan to work for hours now and i cannot get it to work, ive deleted MS Gothic and it still wont work and im super tired of trying, and failing, to fix it myself

windows 8.1 and the error is "Processing non-unicode TrueType font."

My best bet is it's still conflicting with an another type of font, check out this site

Yeah did this get fixed ? i have the same problem except it is with another game from the same developer called Axis and Allies (2004)

Ok so I managed to solve it. The problem, as many users above said lies with the Windows font "MS Gothic". Fortunately deleting the font solves the problem, without causing new ones. Unfortunately deleting it isn't as easy as it should be. I did not use a third party program or Linux as other users suggested here, I used the command prompt. Here's how I did it:

I opened the command prompt as an administrator, and used the commands takeown and icacls on the MS Gothic file located at C:\Windows\Fonts\msgothic.ttc
This is where the linked post stops, but to delete the file I had to use another command prompt, since Windows thought the file was still "in use". I did so by using the command "del /f" on the msgothic.ttc file.

After executing the above 3 command prompt lines, I was able to play the game smoothly.

Thank you It worked for me even though the last command did not work for me the game did launch finally, after years without being able to play, now I have to find my old CD Key xD
