For those who wish to play multiplayer
Hey all,

I'm an old vet of Kohan (bought it in 2004 when it came out) and I'm the organizer of MP games among the small but dedicated group of us who still play this awesome game.

If you'd like to join in, we get together on some weekends to play. This coming weekend being one of them.

We are always welcome to new players and so I'm making this post. However, I warn you that you need to be well acquanted with skirmish before jumping in. If you can't beat the hardest AI, I'd suggest doing that first.

I've included some links for people to look over. They will help you get well versed for multiplayer.

You also should learn the good builds for the game. I HIGHLY recommend starting with Shadow for your first race online. They are the easiest race to learn with. However, you can learn another race first if you like. But avoid Human. They are the most difficult to play well.

As a newb, you are allowed to select your race until you are comfortable to pick random like the rest of us.

Also, we all play with the Immortals mod which was created by myself with help from others in the community. Here is information on how to install the mod launcher.

The latest version of Immortals is V1.6. I can email you that later.

Anyways, feel free to message me, guys. I'll add you as a friend and can keep you informed on everything.

One last thing... if you are not a patient person, I'd suggest not joining us. We typically spend long times waiting. And Kohan was never a fully patched game, so we have to load saves often. I'm just warning you ahead of time. :)

One last thing I'll add. This game is more stable on Windows XP. If you have Windows 7 or later, you will probably encounter freezing! I use a dual-boot myself (XP and Win 7) so I can play it without the freezing issue.

Would it be possible to upload the mod to http://awakening.chimaerica.com/downloads.php?cat=6 I used it recently to get a bunch of mod and maps. I think ill pass on the multiplayer but would love to try another mod out.

Oh, I'm still here. I've just given up on multiplayer due to the constant drops that occur. It gets really frustrating to have players drop on a regular basis. Then, you must send the save to everyone, wait for everyone to return, etc.

I'll see if I can get the latest version uploaded this week.

The awakening does have my mod although it's V1.51.Version 1.6 added in cavalry buffs.

That would be cool, though its sad to see that kohan mp is plagued with crashes on newer os. Didnt know you could save a mpgame.

Hmm I own the disc version but not sure if I still have the CD key, met some friendly people playing this game. Long time ago though, sure they've moved on. Wonder if I should pick this up sometime hmm.

We used to play even up to a few years ago. The drops just became unbearable after Windows 7 was released.

Oh man 2 of you, this is awesome. I haven't played this game in a while though. Does it run alright on windows 10? I got my old cd key too, kinda curious if I can install the game with the disc and link it to steam and get it updated through steam. Also curious how multiplayer works now, since before it was done through gamespy.

Edit: I actually have 2 old saves, "jux dropped", and "xander dropped this time". How many more of the old players, back when I was playing, still play?

Unfortunately, Windows 10 has the same problems as Windows 7. Before Windows 7, you'd probably get someone drop every few games. Now, if you play more than a 2v2, you will get a GUARANTEED drop at least once per game.... it became so unbearable that I just stopped organizing games.

It's been a few years since I last organized a reunion matchup.
