If it's the deterministic nature of the game that you prefer over RNG-based tactical games (90% hit chance misses), then Into the Breach might be a good suggestion.
wow that's really old school, hah!
Main differences are it having flanking and critical hits, spells being limited by cooldown rather than charges, very limited healing options outside of encounters for the most part, and enemies operating more along the modern X-Com rules of sitting around waiting to be aggro'd.
Thanks, this game looks pretty fun actually. Don't really like xcom, not my genre but this could work. :)
You have to use your skills to resolve puzzling to finish the levels.
Dungeon Of Naheulbeuk
Mutant Year Zero
Hard West
Gears Tactics (this one isn't that great, as the combat is really repetitive and leveling isn't that interesting)
Phantom Doctrine (more of a stealth/puzzle game than shooting, and has campaign layer to manage like xcom)
Into the Breach (most different, as it is more army style units on small maps)
Wasteland 3 (more of a full RPG game, less linear than others)
Divinity Original Sin 2 (best RPG game and most interesting combats/tactics/leveling system I've ever played. It is quite a bit more involved than Druidstone and not that linear)
Naheulbeuk sounds awesome! think i'll check that out next, thank you!! Divinity I played, it was GREAT!!!!!
