After finishing the Demo (story and characters)
I wanted to add my thoughts here mostly about the story as I think most of the demo related issues I had were mentioned by others elsewhere.
So I will start by saying I really enjoyed going back to Northfield church. The concept and story are excellent so far. I feel this game is a bit less spooky than the lost crown mostly because we see shadowy figures everywhere but perhaps that plays into the story. I was glad to find Nigel is just as funny and quirky as ever. I particularly love his comment when he knocks on the church door for the first time. I would have liked a few more random comments from Nigel here and there. But I am very happy to see such continuity in Nigel as a character between all the lost crown games. I very much enjoyed wandering the church/churchyard again as Nigel. So to anyone else who played or finished the demo what are your thoughts on the story, Nigel or the new character?

Nigel is awesome as always! Love his comments! I thought it is funny how he now seems to "bump" into ghosts, right before taking their picture. A hint perhaps? I wonder if these ghosts-shadow figures are really there to spook us (they are rather visible without using gadgets afterall) or to serve a different role in the story. We'll see!
I find the new character to be amusing and interesting. The story is written by Boakes so for me it never disappoints. I also love the art and the music, they tie so well with each other, makes the outcome atmospheric.
The devs are trying something new with the gameplay and I wish it goes well for them. I can't wait for the rest of the game! :)

Yeah I hope this new gameplay works out as well, it's always rough switching to something completely new and putting it out for the world to see.
You are right the ghosts are really visible this time around. I am sure all the ones with visible faces play into the story... or hopefully they do. I'm wondering what the tie in is with the choir as well.. those pics of the choir creeped me out a bit and I saw some familiar last names on the list. :saxoncrown:

After the most recent update I was able to play the game fairly easily and finished it. It is a cute game story- and character-wise and as others have said stays in the vain of the Crown stories. I still don't like the 3D navigation and find it clunky and slow, not to mention a lot of work, but I will buy the full version when it comes out , most likely in the box set.

Those pics were creepy indeed. Probably most than anything else I saw in the demo.

I was so happy to see Nigel again after so long and in, what will be, a proper game, not a short story. There are characters in some games you cannot forget and you missed them as old long lost friends.

I know, right? :) I feel like going back to replaying the first game, before Silent Night is fully released.

Let us know what you notice. On my part, after replaying briefly the first few moments of the demo earlier, I noticed that the colors had become darker outside the church, stars were added to the sky and the fog had thickened. These details add so much to the feeling of creepiness and loneliness.

Darker colors would help--I have poor saturation and contrast on my screen and did have trouble seeing the beginning--at least three updates ago ;^). Here's hoping...

It does seem like colors were darker at the beginning. It certainly was much easier to see and for me to navigate. Inside the church seemed easier to see, as well. It may be subjective, but after the last updated, I could see and play the game much better all the way around.

The controls are still a pain, if better. The cursor still lags a bit on my system, which has no dedicated card.

Beautiful game and great story that leaves hints of things to come.

I agree with you on the matter of the controls, mouse and keyboard. I always manage to make the character spin like a ballet dancer when I use them. I felt a little overwhelmed by the way the camera kept zooming in on and out from Nigel. The gadgets also didn't work well. They were always moving/jumping from side to side when I was using them, whether I was moving or not. Finding the active spots wasn´t easy either. I had to work the character in order to put him in the right position.
I prefer having a more "hands-on" point and click game. You know, have more control over the character,: go left, now right and so on, more interaction with items in the world or inventory, messing with them (I prefered the gadets in my inventory, as in the Lost Crown), having their description, moving them around, used them as I pleased.

If this helps any, I played on an xbox controller for pc and it was much easier than when I attempted with the mouse. I only ended up using the mouse for close up scene stuff. So if you have a controller try that and see if it improves your ability to control Nigel. It also makes me feel optimism for the mouse controls to.. because it can be better! Just a matter of fixing some code I think. I also noticed having a ghost hunting gadget out allowed me to move around even more smoothly. Let me know if any of that helps! I think I will replay the game again as well.

You might try your local swap and shop on facebook, or similar. They come up pretty often where I am, but until now I nevrr saw the point of one.

I think it comes in to play later in the main game. I haven't found a use for it yet. Looks like trap or electrical elementboof some sort.

Yes , the second time I've played it took me longer to find it. I'm going to try to explain:
When you enter the cemetary, walk forward and keep your eyes on the left side. The stone wall can be found in two places on the left side. You will not find the thingy on the first, but on the second, before the path that turns to where the fire is (or the playground).

Yes, the second section of the wall in the trees, around the whole cemetary. I was looking on the walls by the path. Gotts crash thru the trees to find it.

I may be wrong but I think that this serves to feed the birds. Though I tried to combine it with food and nothing happened. Maybe Nigel will combine stuff from the inventory automatically when the time is right.
