Maximum resolution 1200x1900 :*(
I don't remember which of the 3 files I edited. I think it might have been the dx9 *.ini file. I typed in the res I wanted and it just worked.
If I change so the secondary monitor is to the right it works as expected.
Workaround (requires you know your way around xrandr):
Move secondary monitor(s) to the right:
% xrandr --output <primary monitor> --pos 0x0 --output <secondary monitor> --pos 1920x0
start civ
Move the monitors back to normal configuration:
% xrandr --output <primary monitor> --pos 1080x565 --output <secondary monitor> --rotate left --pos 0x0
Your parameters will vary.
I first tried to virtually move the left monitor to -1080x-565 and have my main monitor at 0x0, but xrandr just translated it and moved my primary monitor.
If any civ 5 devs happen to see this, please change the logic determening which screen is primary to look at the primary flag (I at least have one those in xfce4) or disable the forcing of resolution if the config has been manually edited.
1) Lauch Civ
2) Go to Video Options and set it to windowed mode
3) Now you can open the Window's Context Menu and Select "More Actions->Application Specific Settings".
4) Under the Tab "Size and Position->Screen" enter the number of the monitor you want to force the application's window on and then set the Pull-Down Menu to Force. You might have to experiment with the numbers.
This solution allows you also to run other applications on the correct monitor.
This only kind of worked. My left monitor is 9:16 and my main monitor is 4k. The resolution of the actual game will ONLY let me set it to the resolution of my left monitor. I'm still trying to figure out how to get it into 1920x1080 windowed mode. But it won't respect the aspect ration.
