At 200 m/s it take about 20 s to brake, but it's easy to avoid leaving system.
You don't have speed limit in Helium Rain, you have the responsibility to moderate your velocity according to your ship (and Phalanx is a pretty heavy fighter).
When I fight, I try to avoid reach a lot more than 200 m/s : your can fire more often and help your wing men easier when you don't take 1 min to go back to fight !
I made this post immediately after watching my Phalanx (in my player fleet, equipped with Harpoons) do an attack run to harpoon a disabled ship, then proceed to not even TRY to turn around for another pass. It was nearly out of the sector when I finally hit N to take it over myself.
