The need of hostile and not uncontrollable ship is because it allow it to attack the bombs (and you) to defends itself, and to try to avoid the bomb. Otherwise, these achivement will be very easy.
This achievement is still easy, however the "it a small ship with a unguided bomb" achievement is very difficult.
