What is the status of helium rain...
And can we expect any future updates? Only just returning in the era of quarantines, and I don't see any recent updates. Hope to see more in the future.

Hi there !

Helium Rain was released almost two years ago now in 2018, after a year in Early Access, and got a few more updates after that before we stopped development with the final modding kit update in early 2019. We don't have future updates planned.

D: thanks for the reply. Hope to see more simulation type games from y'all in the future. Spent hours building my own logistics chains in this game, nothing else quite scratches that itch lol. best of luck with your future projects-if any!

@Stranger Is this review correct?

When utilizing any of the shipyards in the game to build a ship, the shipyard will sometimes require materials to begin construction on whatever ship is in queue - which is fine. What's not fine is when the shipyard requests materials but doesn't have the money to pay for them - and there's no option to trade them for free. What you end up with is a deadlocked game where all the shipyards have your ship in the build queue but can't begin construction, no matter what you do.

I looked for and found comments from the developers about this exact problem, but both of them have since moved on to other projects and don't seem interested in fixing what is essentially a campaign breaking bug.

Bad form. Do not buy this game unless and until this is fixed - if it ever is.

Hi !

I understand that this might be frustrating. The core issue is that the game features an economy simulation where no resource appears out of thin air, where every playthrough is unique, and where every action you do has tangible effects. More to the point, we also need to let the players get commercial opportunities, which means the economy needs "holes", trade opportunities left idle by the system so that you can benefit. One consequence of this complex design is that some games can end up with economic difficulties, especially if intense warfare occurs in early game.

We did take steps to reduce the problem. Companies that are broke get revenue from their competitors to prop them up, for example. Warfare has been toned town a lot during Early Access. We ran simulations over 10 ingame years with each update to check the long-term prospects of an average game, and so on. We've been doing this for five years before we considered the game finished.

I understand that this can still be an issue, and in these cases you need to either be patient, ensure the company you are working with survives their current predicament - by defending their sectors, for example; or you can bite the bullet and start a new game, which we do view as a problem, but not one we have been able to completely remove.
