Let me interact with my deck!
Half the time I'm playing this game, I'm yelling internally "Let me trim this %!#¤-ing garbage!" Like, I get it -- building my deck should be a work in progress throughout the ascent, but when I start with the boon of trimming two cards, saving my money for removal and hitting every shop I can afford, having a card that exhausts others, and well into Act 3 it's STILL a pain in every fight to have to drag around several crap starting cards I don't want, there's something wrong.

At least in the sequel, gimme one more opportunity per act or so to trim, and one to upgrade. I wanna actually interact with the deck.

The fact that removal carries a hefty opportunity cost is a very deliberate design decision, meant to make it difficult to just trim down a hyper-thin combo deck that goes infinite on turn 1.

Consider that simply diluting your starting cards can often be more effective than investing all your resources into removals. The game is more fun when you're encouraged to take more cards, rather than always clicking Skip until you see that one specific combo piece you're tunnel visioned on.

It's so far removed from that as it is tho, so you're not gonna break anything by introducing one more opportunity per act.

Not as far removed as you think, infinites still are fairly strong right now.

I don't think it breaks anything to keep the opportunity cost where it is.

It just makes the game worse.

I disagree. The game is great where it is. One of it's biggest strengths is that they didn't make Skip too strong, which is an issue I have with a lot of other deckbuilders.

Like, I'm not unaware of combos that just escalate. I don't play Barricade, or even Entrench + Calipers, or Pressure Points, or Acrobatics + Tactician etc, cus they're game breaking. I've beaten the heart on ascension with those. Making it difficult to reach compounding, game breaking effects by making the deck interaction frustratingly low is such a worse choice than simply balancing cards so they don't break the game.

I'm in love with the game but it's not great where it is.

Pressure Points is game breaking.
I'd love to see the Subreddit's reaction to this.
