Pirate captain
I had a pirate child who had a chance to become a captain. It said he succeed but left because he needed his own ship and crew. I had a ship in my inventory - do you know if this is just due to chance or do I need an actual pirate ship or some other condition?

That's just the wording used in the event, nothing to do with having your own ship.

There are two outcomes to a child becoming a captain. The first is them becoming the captain and staying which has a 7 + Luck % chance of happening, if this fails then they leave which was the result you got I'm afraid.
