Well, in tournaments where the objective was to defeat and not to kill they did use blunted lances, but in warfare they definity used sharp ones.

I said relatively blunt. If the tip is too sharp it will bend when it hits armor and you won't be able to use the lance at all. So it's blunt enough to withstand armor yet sharp enough for its wielder to ram it through his enemy's torso. And sharp enough could amount it being as sharp as a phillips-head screwdriver (and yes, you can ram those through your enemies too).

Why are we on lances its the hammers need to be balance why we need to sharpen a blunt weapon?

i beat the game easy with lances. only true MH players know that lances are the best weapons especially in groups. i still wonder if you can do head locks anymore. but we will never know because everyone uses different weapons

Just practice and be patient. It’s a much different play style than the other melee weapons.
