I've had the same issue several times. This is a glitch and needs to be fixed. Ridiculous to have to restart the game several times.

Yeah, I have to go into the door straight at first and then kind of shimmy side-ways in order to get inside.

To be fair, it is still only alpha. There are games in beta testing out there that are in worse shape than this lol.

I didn't buy it anyway. tinyBuild gave me a key.

I think you can move the boards somehow. I did on mine, but I don't remember how. Try shooting the boards with the gun maybe...

The problem is the neighbor is in an animation loop trying to close the door and so i cant get close to it to do anything, and also apparently the boards are suppose to be able to be picked up but for some reason i cant do it?

I had to use a Special Program that allowed me to go thru walls just so i could get into the basement. So personally im fine because ive finished the game but its still a glitch that should be fixed.

Side note has anyone figured out the button code behind the giant painting door?

the way I manages to get into the door while the boards were blocking it from opening fully is I used something called the "trap clip". Essentially all you do is pick up one of the traps the neighbour placed, place it infront of the unopenable door - make sure to get it right up to the door so the trap seeps through the door - and then stop on the trap. if this does not work the first keep repeating or do another bug one that I like calling the "crazy trap clip" basically all you do is put the trap into the wall of the basement so it starts jittering around and then walk into the jittering trap and spam jump

PS: I do not know if this will help anyone as it is years later but I needed help with this bug
so I hope someone else finds this useful :)
