Yeah the jumping is pretty finicky. Seems like the game likes to jump towards the left unless I'm really careful. Though even then it can be hit and miss.
Luckily the more I play the better I get at jumping though it remains problematic.
(edit: just found out that rift movement is limited to 10 meters a second I believe, so how jumping works is limited some what to that, however the creator has added around a 25% boost in rift jumps to compensate, So on rift it's about getting the timing and speed more precisely to get good jumps where as the vive you can swing your arms faster to result in a better jump, but there are plenty of tricks and tips that make this game more than possible on the rift as well as vive despite it being a little harder to do big jumps on rift, so no worries:) )
