Question regarding the walking mechanic
Hi, I don't have a Vive or Rift, but recently got myself NoloVR. That's basically a controller and tracking solution for cardboard style headsets. I tried the Climbey Demo and noticed two things. I'm unable to properly jump (only kinda stutter) and unable to walk. (I tried a PSMoveService solution recently, which was able to do these things)

I'm currently investigating if that is related to shortcomings in the hardware or software of these controllers. My fear is that Nolo only has lighthouse/positional information but lacks accelerometer data (possibly even the sensor) which I would expect is used in realising your game mechanic. So far no feedback from the Nolo devs, so in the meantime I thought I'd come over here and ask:

How is walking and jumping build in Climbey? Obviously if you feel uncomfortable in talking about how your code operates I'd understand that. But is accelerometer data important to the functionality here? I would guess that walking is simply looking for any accel data while the grip button is held and modulates forward speed based on the amplitude of the signal. Similarly, jump speed probable correlates to the strength of the accel signal. No data, and both of these mechanics are dead. Am I right here?

Thanks and btw I love your game. So sad that I still can't properly play it ^^

Haha oh man, recently saw a video of those, was wondering how Climbey would play with them!

Jumping is 100% positional data based, so that seems like a tracking speed issue- it can't keep up with how fast you're swinging the controllers.
Walking is accelerometer based so that may be due to the lack of accelerometer data as you suspected.
Jumping also doesn't work 100% perfect when using Oculus Touch even, the Vive seems to have crazy fast tracking even other high-end systems can't seem to compete with, Touch isn't too far behind though so jumping probably works 1000 times better on Touch vs Nolo.

How well did the PSMove solution work by the way?
