I like the way you jump in DOOM VFR, just swing you arms downwards to jump straight up. If you could do that in this game while just holding a direction with the joystick that could be great.
You seem to think it's a player issue and it's not, it's an issue with the way the devs have implemented the index controllers. Hopefully they will correct it at some point.
I stand corrected, it's the dev rather than devs.
I haven't remapped anything, so everything is on default. I'm also not doing anything differently than before, it's just that for me, it works so much better now (perhaps because the gripping and letting go is so much more natural, I don't know..).
So, the way I always do the jumps: I "grab the air" in front of me, as if there was a rod or something to hold on to and then propel myself into the direction I want to jump, so e.g. I grab in front of me at shoulder height approximately and then pull down towards my hips. That's about where I let go.
For really high jumps, I'll "grab" pretty much above my head and pull almost straight down. That way I could even make it onto the surrounding wall of the main menu level. The developer does that frequently in his videos and I always thought he had some special code activated for himself, but no... it's actually doable :) (I can't quite jump up there in one go, but the "CLIMBEY" logo is grabbable and I can reach that and move up from there)
I hope this helps someone. For me, the new controllers have made Climbey a lot more enjoyable. :)
I had a similar issue with my CPU and had to upgrade it, thankfully my motherboard and RAM supported the upgrade, which kept the cost down a bit.
I need the perfect timing to jump and it's really not fun, there is a problem in this game.
You want to start with your arms high, grab and then release in the middle of your swing
Your jump will be in the direction and speed your hands are moving the moment you let go
I guess that's what happens to you when you play 200 hours on both a CV1 and S.
