That fundamentally goes against the game's entire gameplay mechanics and shows a clear lack of understanding of the game, so I responded with a flippant comment just like how your comment was "plz add a jump button for index".
It pissed me off and generally showed lack of forethought, so I responded in a similar manner.
You don't have to buy the game if you don't like it.
Just get a refund and leave instead of suggesting things that make absolutely no sense after playing for what seems like maybe 30 minutes tops.
You say it takes away from the experience but its still the exact same idea. You literally can use the trigger button as a jump function with the regular vive controllers and index controllers which i might add is the same as the climbing button..... Why not just add in a simple option that would require the trigger key to do the same function as it normally would for jumping but allow for climbers to use the grip controllers for climbing. That's all I was basically suggesting. I've played this more than 30 mins on other ppls accounts. the trigger key works fantastic for jumping which is basically the jump button, but then you are forced to use that same key for climbing. I'm just suggesting make it the same function but make them separate options so players can climb with the index controllers and still jump with the trigger key. I was not criticizing your game mate. I was just throwing the idea out there for ppl who had this issue with index controllers.
So in a nut shell its still the exact same game mechanics only you use the trigger key for jumping and the actual index grip controllers for climbing.... thats all.
(Note that I do just use the finger tracking and massively prefer it myself, but I added that function before Index even launched because I figured people would complain)
Take your pick, trigger or finger tracking.
