Cloud gaming, cheating vs the rest of the world
For certain countries cloud gaming could be viable, and whats the obvious thing that comes with cloud gaming? Of course the fact that no user has access to the game code. Requires CLOUD PLAYER ONLY servers to work. Would i play them? Yes, the fact that i can be absolutely certain of not facing a cheater using a wall hack, or aim based hack is very nice...or anything else that has the word "hack" in it.

No single company or single game can put up such a force, alone, to make people want to play in cloud or make it the new go-to. If gamers start preferring cloud gaming, then more developers start making games cloud ahead and cloud only servers will be provided for mp.

It did work for music, it did work for video based media, it should ultimately work for games too. And it should be lucrative, see, you wont need a mighty 1000$ gpu for gaming anymore, you wont need that 14TB or more drive space for your game collection, you never need to download any game at all. Just a gpu that can draw the fed pixels up to required refresh rate and a monitor that supports it.

There are also more factors. Cheat makers and anticheat companies going bankrupt, china being ignored, and i dont know how much of the whole gaming industry benefits from cheats existing and not getting wiped out of the picture at all. How much of the money produced by cheats and anticheat ends up back at the hands of the big companies in gaming, all this gaming and anti-cheat work has to be done hand in hand, or hand in the dark.

Countries where fiber is already in place for most peoples buildings and professionally built, they can get that 10gig fiber connection if they want with less potent latency.

-------

Currently cloud players are put on the same mp servers as regular PC players with obviously no change to cheating because of it. I think its because of lack of cloud players not allowing cloud-only servers to be meaningful.

Theres also the thing where PC players can cheat all they want and you as a cloud gamer cant launch your ESP and do-fun on that very same server. So a battlehardened cheater sees cloud gaming as a no-go.

-------

One more type of cheating that goes away with cloud would be using lag as means to cheat, you will only lag-switch yourself in cloud. The only thing that can be lagged forcefully from the client side is the controller input, not the ingame actions or the character as theres no need to synchronize between any of them, its all happening in the cloud and youre just watching a stream of your character responding to the controller output that is being sent live to the cloud. Theres no connection between multiple entities that can be exploited to gain advantages with any sort of internet traffic manipulation.

Not to talk about how much simpler and easier developing games would get with cloud only. 0 effort needs to be put into preventing hackers in your game from the client perspective. But again that is only if the game was solely for cloud gaming. Which is not possible even when/if cloud gaming skyrockets, plenty still demand on installing the game to their computer etc and those people can hack and get cheated on by hackers on their servers.

See the benefits yet? And some latency to deal with? Somehow...which is getting better day by day. For fiber users their typical latency is 1-7ms in one direction not counting in hardware caused latency at both ends. Sooooo, if you had a well built fiber connection you would have less latency gaming in cloud than normal fully copper connected gamer has ever had using their connection starting from around 15ms up in one direction . Assuming both the cloud provider and server provider servers are very near eachother, not half a globe apart.

Still nobody cares about cloud gaming? And discussion about it has been put away since the hype of the last experiment with it, where people got bad experience mostly due to latency issues (due to bad connection at the players end).

I'd like to play my beloved multiplayer games again and not constantly fear and report cheaters on a daily basis, not only SCUM.
