Probably realized they're at a point of nothing much to loose.

mod support in itself is a huge huge thing. for this game and can prob revive this game back to it's full potential but with that being said it's going to take a couple months and a year or two to get mods up to standard. for this game because it's just now being put out there. but i'm glad. mods offer so much from new guns zombie types ect anything you can really imagine can be done with mods.

Man, some people here act like the devs owe them the world. Every update brings new stuff you’ve asked for — and yet it’s still complaint after complaint.

You wanted ovens and proper cooking for bases? Got it.
You wanted bushes gone from foundations? They’re working on it.
You wanted mod support? Yep, that’s coming too.

On top of that we already have NPCs, traders, modular vehicles, and a huge, great-looking map full of awesome POIs. The game looks fantastic and it’s only getting better.

Like seriously — does trashing the devs make anyone feel better?
Making a game like this isn’t easy, and they’re doing a solid job.

People these days are just too overstimulated — TikToks, shorts, instant everything. SCUM isn’t that kind of game. It rewards patience, and that’s what makes it special.

So maybe take a breath… and enjoy the ride

You kidding right? Scum's out for like 7 years, just as long as it took them to develop basic things like that in a wannabe survival game, and still you can just sip from a frog poo infested pond to keep yourself hydrated!
It's not like there's two guys developing a game in their free time, it's a whole freaking studio!
Basic things like an oven, lights, keeping trees and foliage from respawning in your house and a dozen other things people keep asking for for YEARS should've been done during early access, not being hyped as something great coming for a fully released game. People always seem to forget that it's not in ea anymore, they sell it as a finished product after all.
They still couldn't solve the Houdini trickery where you have to cross your fingers each time you lock in that your stuff didn't disappear for no reason or each time you drag a chest out off your vehicle. Let alone puppets come running through walls and out of cliff faces.
No, that's to hard. Let's rather make the next axe or another ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mini skirt to please those 15 yr old who enjoy to play one handed. Gosh, it's just enraging.
Guess modders could bring some fun stuff but won't be able to fix the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ broken foundation that's keeping many old players including me from coming back.

Hey, I get where you’re coming from — really. Seven years sounds like a long time, but game development (especially a complex survival sandbox like SCUM) isn’t a straight road. Every system they add ties into a dozen others, so even “basic” things can take way longer than they look on paper.

And let’s be real — DayZ has been out even longer, and only recently (through a mod!) did zombies start opening doors. Progress takes time, even for big studios.

What I like about SCUM is that the devs are actually improving things. They’re not abandoning it — we’re getting updates, new features, visual upgrades, and systems that many other games never got post-release. Yeah, some stuff should’ve come earlier, sure — but it’s still being worked on, and that’s what matters.

I’d rather see steady, meaningful progress than rushed features that break everything else.

base building still needs alot of work!

can only hope it has very strict limitations, otherwise im signing out.
I completely agree with chadzi29's opinion.

I recently started playing a game called VEIN.
It has a great reputation, and I think it's an interesting game.
Even so, I'm still convinced SCUM is better made.

I hope the SCUM developers continue developing this game exactly as they envision it.

MODs play a crucial role in keeping users entertained for the long haul, so I'm all for it.

I dont want mods to spoil the game and private servers become largely something that always requires a plethora of mods, and officials completely abandoned. And if they let mods go by loose, this game will be about porn...and porn enjoyers "playing" it. Or it could be about any other fantasy one can dream of...
Please keep it strict.

WE all know of the games that got porn infested by mods (or other fantacy infested and very one sided games for about who are interested in them) And what are still popular because of it, but still all about sex. Not hat it isnt bringing money in, but come on. Sex or porn is about big money. I only care about SCUM for what the origins of it seemed to be about from the beginning years of EA, a very good survival game to be excited of.

Yes, there will be many of you saying SCUM modding ability is great, where you are really only looking for the porn. I think that should be disallowed by a law of some kind, literally disallowing any sort of approach to it. There are us who really care about the game and gameplay in it, and thats the actual thing that should drive the game forward.

It's such great news, this game really needs mod support!
I hope they release a solid mod toolkit so modders can bring all their ideas to life, while the devs keep focusing on improving the core game.
More items, more gameplay variety, and so on. I can't wait! :singingsheslime:

Mate how long did it take them to do those things. We should of had an improvised Oven to begin with. Still being able to drink from rivers and ponds is ridculous, these arent things that take seven years to make!! For gods sake some items you can't even stack. They just kept pumping out DLC cosmetics. They're like Behaviour Interactive.
Dayz was plauged by many problems during it's early days and they had to revamp it and start over.
