Need help. Disgaea 2 for Mac

Hi there. I have just purchased the game on Steam and encountered some rather very inconvenient problem. There wasn't any message box in the game, so all I can do is click around till the game progress ( I can't even see what the characters were saying cause the text never appeared )

How can I fix this or is there anybody experiencing the same problem? I am using Mac Sierra OSX Version 10.12.3

Does your Mac have an NVIDIA graphics card/chip, specifically one from the 8xxx/9xxx/1xx/2xx/3xx/4xx series? If so, this is a known issue with those. No fixes yet that I'm aware of, though I believe the devs are aware.

Oh bugger. I guess that is why then. My mac is still using Nvidia series 3xx. Thank you fr the reply Xpand.

I'm seeing the same behaviour in Ubuntu 17.04 with the Nouveau open-source driver for NVidia cards. The graphics card itself is an old GeForce 310M. Pretty surprised to see this going unfixed for half a year; I just bought the game but will have to go for a refund if something this fundamental is broken.

Same issue here, on a Mid-2009 17-inch MacBook Pro, 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8GB memory, Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT 512MB. Runnin OSX El Capitan, 10.11.6.
