Are you on a laptop with both integrated and dedicated graphics enabled? If so, the game may be trying to start on the wrong chip. Try navigating to the game's folder and right clicking the game, and then seeing if there's an option to start on a specific chip somewhere in there.

Also, have you tried installing any new graphics drivers lately? If you did, try going back to an older version. If you didn't, try grabbing the latest one for your graphics card/chip.
