I noticed something when farming felonies, whenever I entered the Dark Court with a painted character, they would appear unpainted during the trial and return back to normal afterwards. I see it every time on my Thief and I have tested it with a Warslug as well. Magichange weapons of painted monsters do still retain their painted colors in the Dark Court.
