Game stopped detecting steam controller on Linux

First time I started the game up, it worked great. It just worked and all was right with the world. Second time I start it, the game can't seem to detect the controller. The joystick works fine for navigating menus for some reason, but nothing else does and the controller options in the settings is grayed out. I've tried using a couple different steam controller configurations, the official one, and the steam gamepad template. Mapping the buttons to the keyboard keys and keeping the joystick and right pad as a joystick and mouse works pretty great but I figure I should still report it and see if I can get this sorted out.

Hey there dood, sorry to hear about the trouble! Something you could try is disconnecting all USB devices (other than controller) from your PC and seeing what happens.

Can do! Just gave it a try and unfortunately it didn't help much. But while I was trying all the different layouts again, I noticed something kind of odd. While the joystick keeps working when everything else doesn't, it stops working if you take it off the "Joystick Movement" option which looks like a game action kind of thing, not sure if that makes sense. If you set it to "Joystick Move" or any of the other normal options it stops working.

Also I'd really like to thank you guys for bringing this game to Linux. I'm not even a strategy game kind of guy but the Disgaea series had some of my favorite games on the PSP, being able to get that on my Linux PC is just amazing.

An issue I found is that the controller configuration isn't loaded if the game is not launched from Big Picture mode. I don't know if this is something wrong in D2PC, or possibly a once-obscure bug in Linux Steam with games that directly support the Steam Controller.
