Freezing when I press join
I've never had an issue with this game over the years I've played it but now I can't play. Whenever I boot up the game it starts fine, the menu loads and I can see the server list. When I try to connect to a server and press the join button the game just freezes and hangs and I have to close out. I've tried verifying twice, reinstalling, restarting, etc. If someone has experienced this and fixed it, please send on your vast wealth of knowledge. Ns2 is my favorite game. :(((

Yeah I have no idea what this is either.

I played perfectly fine yesterday for hours, start it up today and it freezes when I push join.

I've tried deleting all the files in the NS2 folder in appdate, verifying, reinstalling, exempting it through my firewall. No idea whats causing this but its highly annoying.

Same for me ... It has been freezing for several months for me. But it always "unfroze" after 5 sec and continued to load the game ... now it no longer does that and its just completely frozen. After doing alt+F4 and joining same server again, it freezes maybe 10 sec and then I get the "authentication failed error".
It worked "fine" yesterday 2021-09-14

So I fixed it yesterday by doing a complete reinstall, again played for hours with no issue.

Come back to it again today and I get the same freeze on server join. Frustrating to say the least.
