Crash to desktop on Mega Drive and SNES games
When trying to load a Mega Drive or SNES game, with any game I have tested so far, I experience a crash to the desktop. Sometimes, the Mega Drive game doesn't crash but just won't load, I see the "Digital Cybercherries" still image on the TV.

What I tried to no avail:
  • Renaming the ROM to something simple (i.e., Super Mario All-Stars.smc to smas.smc)
  • Running the same emulator core in RetroArch (the game loads fine there)
  • Running the same game and emulator in NRAN's Preview Mode (the game loads fine there)

So far, I have only gotten MAME, Gameboy and Atari 2600 to work.

Is there a crash log I can examine? I searched for "log" and found something like "New Retro Arcade Neon\NewRetroArcade\Saved\Logs". Around the time where it crashed to desktop I saw something like this in there:

From pictures being too late I suppose the emulator is not fast enough which makes sense as the preview mode has much less to draw and there it works, and the other emulators like Stella or Gambatte work as well. However, I can't explain Neo Geo running absolutely fine though.

Hey there Windfisch. Could I please get your computer's specifcations? You can find them really easily by opening up Steam and clicking Help > System Information.

Could I also see how you've set the game up inside of the Arcade Builder?

One thing I will note is that the VLC error you're seeing doesn't have anything to do with the crashes that you are having.

My computer has an i7-9700K, 32GiB of RAM and an RTX 2080. I am running Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit. If you need more precise specifications I can run CPU-Z ang GPU-Z.

However I think the cause were the emulator cores. I just downloaded new versions of the cores using RetroArch for Windows and got the games to work with them. I set up my arcade with Arcade Manager which is still using the old XML layout because Arcade Manager generates the attract movies, too.
