Very poor optimization on demo?

So I wanted to try the demo, but as soon as I launched it my GPU and CPU fans went into overdrive. Curiously changing graphical settings had no influnece on this and the game actually played really well, as far as I can tell without any FPS drops. I somehow doubt it is my pc being too weak. While it's not a powerhouse by today's standards it still more than meets the recommended requirements.

16gb ram
i5 8600k
Considering current problems with graphic cards I would rather not risk damaging mine. So is this behaviour of the demo normal (it is pre- alpha after all)? Maybe it's something like no fps limiter and the card tries increase fps constantly?

If you're concerned about "damaging" your GPU play with Vsync on and that'll cap your render rate. Outside of that, I don't see how the demo would brick your GPU

I played the demo when it was first released and didn't notice anything like that on my 1070.
