Black Screen on startup
Trying to launch the game for the first time. After the game launches i can hear what seems to be logo sound but the screen remains black. The only thing i can see is custom mouse cursor. After waiting for 15-20 seconds of silence i can hear main menu music. From what i understand, i can even click things, because when i click on some places i hear sound similar to button click.

The things i've tried:
-Restarting PC (ultimate solution)
-Updating/Reinstalling GPU drivers
-Launching game with administrator rights/compatibility mode
-Manually changing config files. After i changed Fullscreen value to false the game started running in window and black screen changed to white screen(!) with same symptoms (can hear sounds, can see mouse cursor, can click things)
-Stuff from this link http://larian.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=610616

The things i haven't tried yet, because it will take some time:
-Reinstalling the game
-Reinstalling Windows

Edit: My specs are rather low, but i was able to run DOS 1 with okayish graphics and 30-40 fps Specs:
-Intel Core i5-2430M 2.4GHz (4 cores)
-Nvidia GeForce GT 520MX
-8GB RAM

I also had this exact problem after installing the Windows 10 update yesterday. D:OS2 was running just fine prior to the update, but afterwards I was getting the same black screen you described. I also have a Nvidia driver as well (GeForce GT 550M).

I was able to resolve the problem by going into the D:OS2 folder > bin > right clicking the EoCApp and going to Properties. Under the Compatibility tab, there was a checkbox labelled "Disable fullscreen optimizations" and I checked the box. After applying those settings, I ran the program and it worked just fine.

I hope this method resolves your problem like it did mine.

I'd take this to support.
Also, here is a troubleshooting FAQ

You'll want to list your specs too if you do plan on troubleshooting this.

Try disabling Nvidia or AMD overlay.

Reinstalling the game or Windows would most likely be a waste of time.

This happens to me (not just Steam games), what I have to do is disable one monitor (not shutting it down, actually disabling it).
Restart the game and then it works, once I've done that and can fiddle around with the display settings in the game, I can finally enable my other monitor.

I don't have a second monitor, so it's probably not it.

What worked for me and I want to share, is disabling supersampling in NVIDIA control panel for DOS2!!!

I had this problem too, fixed it by switching to Windowed Borderless.

this worked for me as well, its weird though. I played the game in fullscreen fine for the first 5 hours of play. then one day it decided to act up.

I just booted it up for the first time on my new laptop today and got the same black screen issue where you start it up and can hear background noise, see the custom mouse but not actually do anything.

I had to change the resolution in the main menu before starting the game. I think it was crashing because the settings were too high to start so it was crashing the game.

create a lobby with 4 slots, then invite friends after.
