Before I purchase Detective Grimoire, I’m a bit worried that the game might be hard to play because it was released a long time ago. However, after trying it, I think it is a good game. The story is interesting and well-written, and it keeps me engaged while solving the mystery. It is a point-and-click mystery where you investigate a murder in a weird swamp, talk to a bunch of suspicious characters, and slowly try to figure out what actually happened 🕵️‍♂️🌿. To actually play the game, you need to stop trusting everyone immediately and think carefully about the clues you collect!

The 4.6 hours is not true (closer to ~2.6 hrs) because I fell asleep on the last leg, pushing myself to play the game despite the lack of sleep. Not at all because the game was boring.

Found this game after having played the Tangle Tower demo, and it's really brought me back to those classic point and click investigations. The VA for Detective Grimoire is *chef's kiss*. He brought the awesome deadpan humor to life. I love the writing. I love the art, the details. The music, I fell asleep to!

The story was fun as it slowly revealed more and more details, that things could get deeper. I found myself suspecting each of the suspects I met in turn, but without the ambiguity that other investigation games have with their suspects that makes it tricky to find out the real culprit.

The puzzles are interesting. They're not difficult. But I've seen how they've continued evolving in the two succeeding games. Looking forward to playing Tangle Tower next and the release of Mermaid Mask!

This game's a neat, short little mystery adventure game. The characters are quirky and interesting, and the mechanics are great for a mystery game. Good voice acting too.

If you try this and like it, then I'd say you should make sure to check out the sequel, Tangle Tower. Sally gets to have more of a major role in that game, and everything about the game feels like it's this game but more fully fleshed out. That's not to knock this game, though, both are fun.
