I would like to see a classic server too but they never gonna do that. Now the merge of the servers and not to forget the mobile version. Pretty sure they gonna focus on that in the near future since those games bring more money in.
Gears progression are much more worst. You have to re-sell your gears to newbie who just enter the game. Meaning, you have to upgrade your gears to minimum until the new gear release. This also mean we don't have equipment storage to make multiple copy of the gems/vaivora/etc for other classes.
The company has to make money to keep the game alive and keep the server running. Selling cosmetics doesn't work unless you're running a moba games like league of legend or dota. Cosmetics in mmorpg doesn't generate enough revenues to pay the dev (not to mention the artists themselves).
