why did this game flop? based on looks alone, this should've been ragnarok online's true successor

It's not suppose to be ragnarok online successor. The studio behind the game said it themselves. The artwork and music are incredible though.

Their financial statement for 2024 looks very stable as well. This is the year where they finally escaped the amount of debts that they were holding onto.

It flopped because it quickly turned into a typical P2D ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, shortly after release.
The game was set up for easy success right out of the gate. It was the spiritual successor to RO that so many dreamed about.

Then they just randomly decided to go full cash grab. It was the fastest suicide I have ever seen a game commit. And one of the saddest.

It might sound harsh, but the truth is that gamers themselves are often part of the problem. MMO games tend to decline or become inactive when they’re not actively promoted within gaming communities. Without enough visibility and engagement, the funding dries up. Making it harder to maintain or improve the project. That’s usually when the game starts fading away. Ironically, it’s often the most dissatisfied voices. Those demanding everything to be completely free who end up fueling the downfall they’re trying to avoid.

RO ragnarok online is RPG game that you can go every where you want and since begining, like if you are hunter you have easier life, go kite harder monster etc.

TOS is linear.. you have to clear stage to stage, it's not that open

also exp card stufff ruin it, RO you have to kill monster to get exp, it's way different feeling.

cheat, i can't remember exactly but after week 1, a bunch of people attack a whole screen/map and drain all items and it not stop for like 3-4 months.

First comment is wrong. COMPLETELY AND ABSOLUTELY WRONG. I participated on the first technical betas and followed the studio on its early stages. They literally stated over and over they were trying to be Ragnarok Online spiritual successor.

they only cared about way to make their whale, pay again.

never fixed anything.
a exemple : i remember a card wasn't working for like 5 years and prob still is broken.
there are many more stuff
but basically everything you discover in the game lead to making you pay.
dungeon, upgrade system, rng box class.

Yeah, at this point they should just outsource it to a company that knows how to balance a game. Maybe even rerelease it as singleplayer game

Players stopped promoting Tree of Savior when it stopped believing in its own vision.

Tree of Savior most likely got into so much debt because it lost its focus and got into a few "financial misadventures".

Wow, blaming player themself instead of devloper. Player will stop promoting the game if they themself doesnt believe in the game to actually bring their friend to play. Let be honest here if player keep frustrated with the system why would they promote to their friend?. I remember so frustrated because it is freaking crazy hard to actually drop a didel grandcross recipe since i was QS focus player. For month and month of grinding, i dont know maybe like 6 month i doesnt get the didel. It is crazy frustrated, some of my friend also quit because of that. And then when i got the recipe, booom the next patch update they make untradeable recipe to be tradeable.

This was like a freaking major problem for like a year when player keep asking for dev to make recipe tradeable since it so freakingly hard to get "lucky". Of course i feel frustrated just when i got the recipe they make it tradeable. But again i dont hate them much because still i feel for every other char that i created i need others recipe as well. But this was major problem for many many month and they refuse to make a quick fix. I mean how hard it is to change "0" to "1". And that is not even end game content if they feel it gonna broke the game. Again this was necessary to access a endgame content.

But what most frustrated of this game? its potential losing reinforcement. Some people will defend this. But back then this game was heavily need enhancement to take a part to end game. Nobody want to bring deadweight who deal less damage and easy to die just because they fck up on reinforce the weapon and armor. I actually quit this game because i loss my so so much investment of weapon. I needed it to atleast +10. But i can never pass +11. It keep drop and drop yeah to the point of 1 and back to +7. I do what most sane people will do. If that 0 potential break i will quit this game. If it got +1 then i continue. And the weapon break, so i just quit the game.

Not only me, but almost all my friend in the game frustrated of this system as well. There are tons of thing that i can said that leading to why player doesnt recommend this game to their friend. Like bot keep stealing "real"player farming those "stupidly" rare material. And you saying that player is to blamed because they not promoting the game. Let be honest here i wont suggest to any of my friend and let they feel my frustrated emotion
