Failed to load sound

I am working on a L4D2 Sound pack and whenever i try it it always says

Failed to load sound "INSERTNAMEHERE.wav", file probably missing from disk/repository

How do I fix this? Please, help! I made it really far!

How exactly are you attempting this? workshop? replacing game files? etc?

.vpk in "custom" folder.

Try that first, for example, if you wanted to change the main theme song (startup theme) then you'd to "vpk" 3 folders, root >> sound >> ui >> gamestartup.mp3/wav all in that order.

Nothing. I did what you said. "left 4 dead 2 sound pack.vpk/root/sound/gamestartup.mp3"
Now I dont hear any silence from new sounds. All sounds are default.

the filename has to be root.vpk only. Can you link me to where the download is so i can test that out?
