Not a big fan of the new diplomacy system
Hey ! so the new demo drop and diplomacy seems kind of lackluster, now i don't know if its because it is a demo of an early access or what, but there is still something i feel that need to be point out :
Why have two "declare war buttons" ? a "declare war" and "declare unjustified war" ? how is that gonna translate against player ? why is this a thing ?

i know it kind of always was a thing, you'd get bonus/malus depending the context in wich you declared a war (and on who) but i find it extremely strange to put this in a 4X game like endless legend, cause at the end of the day its the player that shape its narrative, sure some war are unjustified in the grand schemes of thing, but what if i want to play a bloodthirsty faction ? what if one of my allied pissed me off and im like "screw you, its war now !"'

My overall point is that its kind of weird and im frankly not a fan of the presented foundations, imo diplocamy is a way to show a faction behavior in a more narrative way, whenever it is short tempered, slow but loyal, etc etc and i feel like changes like this kill the freedom and fun that come with diplomacy, buff and debuff with context and recent player action already worked well

isn't it in every 4x though? They all give you a penalty if you suddenly jumps on a friend/neutral nation. It used be Surprise War/Formal War in Humankind which is simply renamed to War/Unjustified War.
Immersion wise think it as your people's willingness to fight. Imagine (if you are an American) your president got embarrassed in some social event and just decides to attack the EU next day, you will not be very willing to sacrifice your life just for that.

i already talk about buff and debuff and thats not my issue, my issue is that its kind of build like a paywall and i find it really strange.

Also the angle of "justified war" isn't about justifiyng yourself to your citizen, but making yourself hated enough by the faction you want to engage war in.

I find this system pretty strange and i prefered the more fluid/narrative focus mechanics of legends and space 2.

Also i didn't knew this mechanic was ported from Humankind, idk how to feel about that.
Also i think bring up real life comparasion is out of place.

Do not recall exactly but yes on EL1 and ES there was no difference on this topic (justified/unjustified). In terms of narration i think it makes sense but I do see why for you this makes not much sense.
I know the team is working on diplomacy and ways to improve it.

Is there any other aspect of the diplomacy you do not like or it is more the war topic?

Hello ! thank you for noticing ! other than that i'd say that its pretty lackluster in term of interaction and options ? i don't know if it is due to the fact that its a demo of an early access (understandable that major features would be absent) or if it is by design.

If it is by design and there is a desire to push player in a more slow diplomatic game style (and less war reactionary focus), i think it is necessary to give option, like sending praise/threat, being able to send/ask for ressources, etc etc

On a positive note, i like being able to share a victory through diplomacy, its a bit far on the research tree imo, but its great to be able to officialy win with a friend.

Im whinning on the topic of war, but i understand that it could make more sens later on once more content is added and the vision of the game is clearer

I have no problem with the buttons, but the AI doesn't abide to the rules of war? Necrophage AI start it all with killing my scout, somehow not considered war?
Constantly trespassing, yet only provides 1 stack of -10 opinion for justification? All following Trespassing only refresh the timer?
I've fought and killed 3 of his 5 stack army and still not enough grievances?
And the final straw for me to quit is AI attacked and sacked my camp, and with all above I'm still sitting at -45 opinions???????

And you tell me only -60 count as justified War? What kind of sick joke is this?
This feels like an insult, it's like a slap in the face when you get bullied and everyone tells you don't fight back.
