Lone wolf sucks?
Hello,

I ended up taking lone wolf on a hero once and noticed this removes companions and haven bonus. So the question becomes, whats the point of lone wolf if you lose out on so many good bonuses?

The lone wolf bonus is rather garbage. 1 to all stats is "effectively" 5 levels but there is no hero that wants 1 to all stats. they would prefer 5 to a single stat, which you get when you build your haven.

Lone Wolf might be awful gameplay wise, and picking it is vastly inferior to the other option, but it does come with one huge boon - you don't have to read furry fanfiction.

What is wrong with you that you don't want to read furry fanfiction? That's what humans were intelligently designed for.

Idk why I thought there were 5 stats but yeah you are right. Lone wolf should maybe have some bonuses for when there is a single hero in an army.

Not to mention the companion bonuses can be extremely more valuable than a level.
I had one that gave my entire army and the hero 100% crit rate.

I feel like Lone Wolf could benefit not from just giving extra stats, but also extra traits or modifiers. Since a Lone Wolf more or less doesn't care about companions or friends, a modifier that grants additional buffs to stats for non-hero units in the army (Based on the hero type) or additional out-of-combat bonuses (Bonus vision, movement, experience gain?) could be a good start.

It could also be worth to have Lone Wolves have their own personal quest chains, since Companions give random bonuses every now and then. Something to get a unique weapon or equipment, or a permanent buff (like the early quick recovery you can permanently pick up).

Arguably, the biggest value of the companions is in the buffs to the haven district. Picking lone wolf is a bad decision economically/strategically.

An option would be to let a lone wolf choose a hobby to which they are going to dedicate all their time and gloomy obsession: instead of having +1 FIDSI per level, let it be +2 or +3 of a single resource per level -- a hero turned into an obsessed scientist, or obsessed engineer, or a tormented writer of romantic (furry) novels for teenagers -- so their haven contributes strongly to one specific resource production

The buff is you, the player, don't need to interact with the prepubescent fanfic taking place between flesh eating bug man and star horse.

The idea about letting th ehero specialise in a hobby is a good idea to specifically focus a FIDS, and really it'll be fine if you pull 3 random perks from the companion pool the hero can get for themselves. Just make it be an option.
That's all. They don't need to be mechanically different.

A lone wolf could end up with double points from level ups, making them an absolute power house making up for the missing haven.

They could get an extra trinket or accessory slot. As something like a reminder of who they left behind, maybe even created a accessory or trinket that gives a powerful bonus.

Wow I've NEVER seen any of these options pop up. That actually makes it really good. Any specific triggers to get this?
